Starting the day with Google
Working in SEO you soon have a familiar pattern to your life which defines, also, how you work. Mine begins with coffee (vital to get my brain going) and a query of the Google database where I see how specific search terms have fared overnight and begin to gauge the impact of my efforts and those of others. This allows me to then plan my day better, prioritizing specific courses of action.

The search term ‘SEO Help Book’, for instance, is now on the first page of Google against over 108 million competing pages and it is something which took just over nine days to achieve. By checking its position on the first engine of Google against more established web pages I can then ascertain what they have done and work out my own SEO strategy to beat them.

All of this may sound like a lot of complicated SEO work first thing in the day but it isn’t. The steps are very much logic-driven and once you make them part of your daily routine they seem to fit in seamlessly taking up less time than you think and enriching your SEO knowledge in the process.

The immediate pay-off of course lies in being aware of the changes which take place in the search engine organic listings overnight. Then and only then do you get the opportunity to ‘play’ with the Google algorithm in the sense that your actions and its results engage in a well-synchronized dance.
