Increase traffic to your website with just one step
Getting more targeted traffic to your website and increasing the number of global visitors who visit your web page is ultimately what search engine optimization (SEO) is all about. You get to struggle with concepts such as linking strategies, search engine penetration, website traffic and detailed analysis of website visitors and the keywords which brought them there just so your website can be found easily and you can get the targeted traffic necessary in order to convert online visitors into paying customers.

SEO has a tendency to absorb time and energy as an activity to the point that it transforms from being a means to an end (i.e. getting you more website traffic) to being an end in itself and that’s usually where most webmasters begin to get bogged down in details which lose them precious time, tie then up in inconsistencies of approach and, for the time they take, generate results which are not as satisfactory as expected.

The only way to make sure you do not get into this trap and stay focused on your search engine optimization needs purely as tools designed to increase the traffic to your website is to approach the problem from a different angle. Instead of trying, for instance, to understand search engines and get to grips with search engine optimization theory, set website business goals which can be summarized in one line and which then can lead to implementable SEO solutions.

I will show you what I mean. If you want to make more sales, get more Newsletter subscriptions and generally make a success of your website you will need to get more traffic to your website. At this point your website development goal becomes: “How can I get more targeted traffic to my website?” – Of all the things you could be getting involved with to solve this with complicated SEO activities there is one step which will give you more targeted traffic in the shortest possible time and that is having a concept which I call ‘targeted uniqueness’.

This means that when you create your website content you need to understand what it is that potential visitors will be looking for. In the instance of this post, for example, it is a way to get more targeted traffic to a website. Then work to give content which is unique and helps in terms of giving advice which has real value to your visitors.  In order to achieve this ‘targeted uniqueness’ in your website content you need to think not just what search terms your visitors may be looking for but also what problem they are trying to solve and then use your expertise to give them an instant solution which will work for them.

If you create website content which:
  • Takes into account the search terms your visitors are most likely to use
  • Understands the problem they are trying to solve
  • Gives them an instant solution to that problem

Then you will have created the exact kind of website content which will get you traffic which is uniquely targeted to what you do and will be more likely to convert from online visitors into paying customers.
